January is learn to ski and snowboard month

With the holiday crowds gone, January is the perfect time to take a trip to Tahoe for some winter fun. Free lift tickets for active duty military

Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows FREE lift tickets are available to active duty military personnel by presenting an  active duty military ID at the Guest Services & Sales Center at Squaw Valley or Alpine Meadows. Lift tickets valid Sunday-Friday, non-holiday for the 2012-13 season with the exception of the following blackout dates: December 26-31, 2012, January 19-20 2013 and February 16-17, 2013. Ski/ride free on your birthday

Homewood Mountain Resort has a special birthday gift for you – a free day of skiing or snowboarding on your birthday! Simply present your driver’s license or ID with date-of-birth proof at any Homewood lift ticket window. Free birthday lift tickets are subject to the following holiday blackout dates: Dec. 26-31, 2011; Jan. 14-15, 2012; Feb. 18-19, 2012.

Troops ski for free

The following resorts offer free skiing and riding for U.S. Military personnel with a valid ID: Squaw Valley: Complimentary lift tickets for active duty military members every Sunday through Friday, excluding holidays. To redeem, military can present proof of active duty status at Squaw’s Tickets, Passes and Snowsports Center at the base of the mountain. Tahoe ski resorts are gearing up for another early season. Each year, the resorts hire thousands of winter sports enthusiasts for jobs ranging from retail sales to ski patrol. The West Shore Cafe & Inn has re-opened under the new ownership of San Francisco Based Real Estate Investment Firm, JMA Ventures, LLC.
