North Lake Tahoe will be kicking off the 30th Annual Snowfest this Friday. The week-long event will continue through March 13th. Some of the highlights include:

Friday, March 4th, 6:30 p.m.
The Opening Ceremonies start at Squaw Valley with a laser show, torchlight parade and fireworks display.

Saturday, March 5th:

SnowBomb’s Sick & Twisted Freestyle Competition at Alpine Meadows
Pros and newbies battle it out in this annual freestyle ski competition for over $10,000 in prizes. Competitors must clear a custom-built jump in Alpine’s terrain park while performing some of the sports’ latest tricks. Fee to enter.

The 30th Anniversary Tahoe City SnowFest! Parade takes place in downtown Tahoe City. Main street will be closed during the parade. Free to the public.

21st Annual “Polar Bear Swim
Participants brave Tahoe’s freezing waters to swim over 200 yards for prizes, then defrost at Garwood’s with a hot drink.

Sunday, March 6

Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue’s Great Ski Race
Cross Country skiers from around the world compete in a 30km race from Tahoe City to Truckee in one of the biggest races of it’s kind on the west coast. A fundraiser for the Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue Team.

4th Annual Dog pull
Man’s best friend compete in a 75 foot long pulling race for prizes. Proceeds go to the Pet Network in Incline Village.
