Burton Mountain Festival coming to Northstar

The 2nd annual Burton Mountain Festival Tour makes a stop at Northstar this weekend. Resort guests will be treated to a free day of  live entertainment, Burton 2013 product demos, giveaways, and a mini park for young snowboarders 4-6 years old. Cold, heavy snow forecast for the holiday weekend

Weather forecast courtesy of Sugar Bowl Resort Cold, Snow Showers Today, Heavy Snow Thursday Night through Sunday. Alpine Meadows opens

Alpine Meadows celebrates the start of the 2012/13 season with party sunny skies and 4 lifts in operation. Summit Six, Roundhouse, Meadow and Alpine Bowl are open with packed powder and groomed runs. Homewood to open Thanksgiving weekend

Christmas has come early to the Tahoe resorts. Snow is forecast throughout the weekend, giving the resorts a nice base for the Thanksgiving holiday. Homewood Mountain Resort will open Nov. 23-25 (Fri-Sun) for beginning skiing, snowboarding and sledding above the North Lodge. Additional terrain will open as conditions permit. Beginner lift tickets for the holiday weekend will run $35. All-mountain tickets will run $59 if conditions permit.

Squaw, Sugar Bowl to open this weekend

Thanks to a series of early snowstorms and advanced snowmaking equipment, two resorts will open this weekend. Squaw Valley will celebrate with an early opening this Friday, November 16th. Scheduled lifts include Exhibition, Red Dog, Resort at Squaw Creek and FirstVenture. Look for part of the upper mountain to open by Thanksgiving. Mother Nature brought the gift of an early snowstorm to the Sierra’s this week, putting the resorts in high gear for opening day. Boreal will open the Castle Peak Quad chair this weekend. Will you pay $92 to ski Alpine?

Alpine Meadows has always been one of my favorite resorts in Tahoe. For me, it has just the right mix of terrain, amenities, fast lifts, close parking, easy access and customer service. It also had affordable lift ticket prices – until now.
