Update: Heavenly is now open with 1″ of new snow on top of the 18-24 inch base. The Tamarack Express and Dipper Express lifts are open.

A winter storm, usually a welcoming event for the ski resorts, has dampened the opening day festivities for one of Tahoe’s biggest resorts. Heavenly postponed their opening this morning due to high winds. West winds are expected between 55 and 65 mph with snow expected to fall mid-morning. All lifts are on hold until further notice.
