Record snow levels in December fueled my dreams for a January full of fresh powder days. Apparently, it was just a dream. The month will end with a taste of fresh snow on Sunday, only to return to spring-like conditions next week.

Weekend forecast courtesy of Sugarbowl:

Saturday will have increasing clouds. Lows in the 20s to low 30s, highs in the upper 30s to mid 40s. Afternoon west to southwest winds to 20 mph, to 50 mph on the ridges.
Occasional snow on Sunday and much cooler. Accumulations for the day in the 2-5 inch range. Temperatures steadying into the 20s. West to northwest winds to 25 mph, to 60 mph on the ridges, becoming more northeasterly in the late afternoon.

Weekend Travel Weather:
Dry roads on Friday and Saturday. Slippery conditions may develop on Sunday with the light accumulations.

Extended:
The high pressure ridge returns on Monday to bring a week of sunshine and on again, off again easterly winds.
