If you planning a trip to Tahoe this weekend, don’t forget the chains. The National Weather Service has predicted significant snowfall this weekend starting on Friday with temperatures predicted to drop into the teens by Sunday night.

My insiders at Sugar Bowl report that the cold front is expected to bring snow starting Friday afternoon. 3-6″ are expected by Saturday morning. Heavier snow is expected to start Saturday afternoon with an additional 18-30″ by noon, Sunday with temperatures in the teens. Monday should bring another 3-6″ and clearing by Wednesday.

If you’re heading up, expect chain requirements by Friday afternoon and into the weekend. The NWS recommends checking the latest weather and road conditions before you go.
