In honor of Veterans Day, I’ve compiled a list of resorts that offer free or discounted lift tickets for active military men and women for the 2010/2011 season:

Squaw Valley: Ski & ride FREE
All active duty U.S. armed forces can ski or snowboard free Sunday-Friday with the following blackout dates: 12/27-1/3, 1/16, 1/17, 2/13, 2/14. Discounts on rental equipment also available. Go to the special tickets office with a valid active duty military photo ID and a second photo ID.

Alpine Meadows: Ski or snowboard FREE
Alpine offers active duty military FREE lift tickets with with valid Common Access Card.
Alpine Meadows is home to the the Disabled Sports USA Far West ski school, specializing in ski/snowboard instruction for disabled service members. For more information, visit http://www.skialpine.com/lessons/disabled-sports-usa

Homewood: Ski or snowboard FREE + 50% off for family members
Active duty military ski for free any day, including holidays. Present your current military ID at Special Tickets window to receive an adult, full-day lift ticket. Immediate family members of active duty military receive 50% off lift tickets any day, including holidays.

Boreal: $15 Fridays

Active military with a valid ID receive a lift ticket for $15 on Fridays. Holiday restrictions include 11/26/10 and 12/31/11. Visit the Outdoor Recreation Office for discounted lift tickets.

Mt. Rose: $39

Discounted lift tickets are available for Department of Defense Active personnel. Purchase at Mt. Rose Guest Services.
